Location
Positioned within Fox Glacier Village itself, you’ll have the great white of one of the South Island’s premier attractions on your frozen doorstep. It’s a charming township in the beautiful alpine West Coast, ideally located for guided walks, helhikes, scenic flights and even skydives. The glacier’s Franz Josef alternative is also just next door – as is the mountain-framed beauty of Lake Matheson. Warm back up with a dip in the geothermal hot pools or take a stroll on the desolate Gillespies Beach.
Accommodation
Each of the hotel’s rooms are carefully appointed in plush fabrics and muted colours while its exterior features designer stone-clad columns. They also all come with balcony view, looking back to the towering Southern Alps. Return from days spent hiking the wild landscape to generously sized king beds, in-room plunger coffees and spacious en suites complete with separate baths. Entertainment comes in the form of Sky TV, iPod docks and unlimited complimentary WiFi.
Dining
The hotel’s breakfast restaurant is found on the ground floor, taking full advantage of its sunny aspect. It’s a casual affair with plenty of time to for you to get energised for the day with a full range of teas and coffees. There’s a continental selection of cereals, breads, fruits and croissants while your waiter will take your à la carte order for the cooked options to your table. For lunch and dinner, there’s a good range of restaurants in the area with everything from gourmet cafés to gastropub classics on offer.
Facilities
This hotel is more focused on its unrivalled location rather than adding amenities. You’ll be within touching distance of hikes over Fox Glacier and viewpoints that take in its great white mass.
