Almost invisible from its surroundings, this stunning lodge is embedded in a slope in the earth. A safari haven utilising the tones and textures of its bushveld surrounds, it's described as the most environmentally friendly lodge in Africa.
The lodge’s 13 suites feature elegant stone bathroom with soaking tub and indoor and outdoor showers, bespoke furniture and a private plunge pool with wilderness and wildlife, views. Huge windows flood the suites with light, and there are wooden sculptures by renowned local artist Geoffrey Armstrong, all adding to the distinctly African charm.
The outdoor boma - the perfect spot for a fireside meal - perfectly captures the drama and magic of the African night. There's also a stylish indoor/outdoor dining area overlooking a waterhole popular with passing game. Meals are indulgent, delicious and paired with a selection of fine wines from the lodge's own 6,000-strong cellar.
Daily game drives and bush walks, led by expert naturalists and Shangaan trackers, offer the chance to seek out the Big Five and a host of other wildlife. And there's the chance to unwind with a dip in the pool, a workout at the air-conditioned gym or a treatment at the superb Amani Spa.
