Location
Designed in the French Gothic Chateau style to complement the adjacent Parliament Buildings, this historic hotel was built over a century ago and enjoys a perfect central location from which to explore the Canadian capital city. A short taxi ride from Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier Airport, the hotel sits within walking distance of a wealth of Ottawa’s most celebrated sites and landmarks, including Parliament Hill, Rideau Canal (the world’s longest naturally frozen ice rink), ByWard Market, and the Canadian Museum of History.
Accommodation
As tastefully and elegantly decorated as one would expect from a national historic site, the rooms at the Chateau Laurier come in standard or ultra-spacious Deluxe size. The most sought-after rooms are designated as Fairmont Rooms with View, and their views reveal the splendour of Canada’s Parliament Buildings and the nearby Rideau Canal. Suites of various dimensions – from one-bedroom to Presidential – are also available, while guests who value a little extra comfort and privilege can opt for the “hotel within a hotel” Fairmont Gold experience on the 4th floor, with private lounge, reception, and concierge team at your service.
Dining
Breakfast, lunch and dinner (and weekend brunch) are served at the award-winning Wilfrid’s restaurant, in the same elegant but friendly atmosphere that infuses the entire hotel. The chef and his team are renowned for their high-quality regional Canadian dishes. Elsewhere, the less formal surrounds of Zoe’s Lounge are open for afternoon tea, with a bar and lounge menu on offer until the early hours, and live entertainment at weekends. In the warmer months, guests can enjoy al fresco food and drink and sunset views on La Terrasse - “the most beautiful patio in Ottawa”. In-room dining is also available 24/7.
Facilities
With central Ottawa right outside the front door, guests will spend most of their days exploring the sites and atmosphere of Canada’s capital city; the concierge team can suggest itineraries to suit all schedules, appetites, and seasons. Back at the hotel, you can also take advantage of the splendid art-deco pool and Health Club, featuring fitness centre and a range of massage therapies and wellness services. Historical tours of the hotel building itself can also be arranged.
