Flinders Hotel, Mornington Peninsula

With a history dating back to 1889 the Flinders Hotel offers stylish accommodation and superb dining in a coastal setting. Over the years the hotel has suffered fire, floods and played host to many colourful characters. Today Flinders is known for its excellent dining and boutique accommodation in the Quarters.

Location

The Flinders Hotel is located in Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula around an hour and half drive from Melbourne. This is the rugged, wilder side of the peninsula where the Bass Strait and Westernport Bay meet. Cape Schanck is regarded as having the cleanest air on the planet which is bottled by CSIRO scientists after gale force winds blow the uncontaminated air up from the Antarctic. Flinders itself is a tiny township with antique shops and craft outlets; it is also home to Mornington Peninsula Chocolates, which is just a short stroll from the hotel.

Accommodation

Quarters is the 40 room accommodation at Flinders, the contemporary design blends seamlessly with the coastal landscape and there is a choice of luxury rooms to enjoy. All offer air conditioning, king beds which can be made into twins, Wi-Fi and original artworks from the private gallery of Andrew Gretch, a highly regarded Australian contemporary artist. A number of rooms also have large outdoor decks or balconies.

Dining

There are two excellent dining options at the Flinders. The first is The Deck Bar & Bistro, a relaxed, friendly spot with both outdoor and indoor dining serving high quality pub-style food. Terminus offers a blend of modern Australian and Mediterranean cuisine and is regarded as one of the best restaurants on the peninsula. Bookings are essential.
