Location
Situated two hours by car from Cape Town and 30 minutes from Hermanus, Grootbos Lodge is located in the heart of some of the Western Cape’s most idyllic landscapes. It's the perfect place to pause en route to the world-renowned Garden Route, with the chance to spot whales off the coast and take in the beauty of Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, nestled between the mountains and sea.
Accommodation
Free standing suites offer seclusion and immersion into the natural surroundings and wilderness. Divided between Garden Lodge, Forest Lodge and The Villa, all suites embrace comfort and luxury, orientated to face the setting sun and views of Cape Point. Garden Lodge, set amongst gardens and trees, is composed of the Classic Suites, Luxury Suites and Two Bedroom Luxury Suite all featuring stylish furnishings, luxurious canopy beds, en-suite bathroom facilities, separate lounges and private wooden decks with panoramic views. Forest Lodge offers more space and private plunge pools, whilst the Villa, the most luxurious of all, features over 1000sqm of space, private guides, and chef and butler service alongside private gym, media room, swimming pool and helicopter landing strip.
Dining
The two restaurants at Grootbos pride themselves on producing the finest contemporary cuisine with organic ingredients. Breakfast is a casual, buffet-style affair with menu options, followed by a three-course lunch and an outstanding five-course dinner. Chefs are available all times to cater for guests, with menus reinvented daily.
Facilities
Guests are spoilt with a wide range of facilities and activities available. Beach picnics and walks, flower safari’s, land-based whale watching tours, horse riding and guided tours including bird-watching, coastal, nature and cave are all inclusive of the price. Guests are also encouraged to take advantage of the additional tours and services that can be arranged via the hotel, such as scenic flights, spa treatments, shark cage diving, boat-based tours, quad biking and wine tours.
