Location
The hotel is discreetly tucked away in an elegant heritage building down a leafy residential street in Colombo’s upscale Cinnamon Gardens neighbourhood. As such, it retains a sense of serenity and seclusion, while also being conveniently positioned within relatively easy reach of the city’s major sights and attractions. For instance, both Gangaramaya Temple and Independence Square are a 5-10 minute drive away, while Pettah Market, the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct and Galle Face Green are 10-15 minutes away.
Accommodation
There are just seven suites in total, lending the hotel a homely and intimate feel. Each of them is fitted with vintage-style furniture, artwork and rugs, evoking an ambience of timeless elegance. The two deluxe suites open out to an inner courtyard featuring antique Jaffna elements, while the four ultra suites have ground floor and upper floor options, with either a garden terrace or a furnished balcony and bathrooms equipped with roll top bath tubs and walk-in showers. The most spacious of all is the master suite, which comes with a grand four-poster bed, a private courtyard and a plush living room.
Dining
The primary dining venue at Maniumpathy is The Verandah, where you can enjoy delicious local and fusion cuisine served outdoors on marble tables under the golden blooms of Ehela trees. It doubles up as a coffee shop where you can enjoy all kinds of cakes, pastries, tea and coffee throughout the day. For special occasions, there’s also the Ebony Dining Room, which boasts a vintage chandelier and a 16-person ebony table – available to reserve for private use, with the option to customise a menu to your individual tastes. Alternatively, you can book The Pavilion, another intimate private dining space, tucked away in the corner of the main lawn. The Cigar Room, meanwhile, offers a sophisticated space for relaxing over high tea on plush leather sofas.
Facilities
In the inner courtyard, there’s a lap pool flanked by lounge beds and tropical foliage – the perfect spot for a cooling dip and relaxation, either in the shade or while soaking up the sunshine.
