Nuss Buenos Aires Soho, Buenos Aires

Location

Risen from the remains of a 1930s convent, this chic and intimate boutique hotel is surrounded by some of the best bars, restaurants, shops and art galleries in the whole of Buenos Aires. This is Palermo Soho, where fashionistas frolic and media mavericks mingle. And there’s a lot to be said for feeling part of the action, or for just observing it from the hotel’s rooftop terrace.

Accommodation

The 22 rooms are positioned around a central courtyard garden (the old convent cloisters) and feature polished wooden floors, crisp white linens, dark-wood tables, complimentary WiFi and wall-mounted, flatscreen TVs. There’s nothing overly showy here, just a sense of style and homely comfort; a credit to the local interior designer, Sofia Camps. The windows are also all double glazed, which is a blessing in a neighbourhood that’s known for its nightlife.

Dining

Let the pastry chefs work their magic on you at breakfast in the ground floor deli, which serves tea, coffee, wine and snacks throughout the rest of the day. There’s no restaurant to speak of – though there are plenty of great options in the area to choose from – but a basic room service menu is available for guests from 7am until 2am.

Facilities

In part shaded by trees but open enough elsewhere to people watch on the streets below, the hotel’s roof terrace has a bar, sun loungers and an all-too-tempting plunge pool. You’ll also find a steam room and a well-equipped gym. The real fun to be had though is in exploring the local district, wandering cobbled streets and tree-lined boulevards, popping into the bars and galleries that the hotel staff will be happy to recommend.
