City
Location
Annapolis was once the capital of the USA for a brief time and the city has a nautical feel, as it sits on the shore of Chesapeake Bay and is home to the US Naval Academy. The hotel is in a very central location in the historic downtown area, just under a mile from the Naval Academy and a 10 minute walk from the Maryland State House and City Dock.
Accommodation
The rooms at the O'Callaghan are spacious and decorated in warm tones with gold and brown accents. The furniture is imported from Ireland and each of the rooms has air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, fridge, LCD TV, spacious work desk plus tea and coffee maker. The executive balcony rooms offer more space and a private balcony while the suites are more contemporary in style, with oversized bedroom, separate living area and a large deck with seating for four.
Dining
The John Barry Restaurant & Bar, named after the Irish born soldier and first officer of the United States Navy, is a welcoming eatery and pub serving food all day. Hearty breakfasts set you up for the day with a choice of light and fast options or larger plates like Irish Eggs Benedict or Irish Breakfast Frittata. The all-day bar menu serves local classics such as Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich alongside Irish favourites such as Guinness French Onion Soup topped with Dublin cheddar or Salmon topped with a Jameson whisky sauce.
Facilities
The hotel has a 24-hour fitness centre with cardiovascular equipment and there are other sporting facilities close by, including sailing and golf, which can be arranged for you. There are interesting running routes in the historic areas of the town and on the waterfront. The city’s free circulator trolley, with a stop just steps away from the hotel, makes it easy to get around the city and runs from early morning to late at night. Other amenities at this warm and friendly hotel include a business centre and 24-hour room service.
