Location
The Old Harbour Hotel is located at the heart of the ancient Fort Cochin, in Kerala, a place that exudes history and culture. The hotel is a 300-year-old building that has long been a heritage monument in the town and has recently reopened as this boutique hotel. It's built in a Dutch style, with hints of Portuguese influences.
Accommodation
The interior of the hotel was designed and decorated by Karl Damschen, and blend antique furniture and varied art to create a unique style. There are thirteen spacious rooms, each named after various old streets in the fort, with plush high ceilings and either looking into the courtyard or over ancient Chinese fishing nets. There are special garden cottages, which have open-to-the-sky showers, a veranda and private pond.
Dining
The restaurant delivers the freshest foods at all times. There are homemade breads, freshly squeezed juices, and only organically grown vegetables are used in the cooking along with the highest quality meats. As it lies so close to the fishing district, the hotel also serves fresh fish, and a wide-range of seafood. There's also a special seafood menu and barbeque each night.
Facilities
The hotel has a large swimming pool, as well as a stage for cultural performances, all set within plenty of green space and nature. There is also an Ayurvedic spa and a large open-air terrace. Care has also been taken to provide organic soaps and lotions in the bathrooms, comfortable robes and slippers as well as plenty of bottled water.
