Location
At kilometre 74 on the new road from Puerto Natales, this luxury, tented camp is about as close as you can get to Torres del Paine’s granite spires without staying inside the park boundaries. And, with its peaceful position on the shores of shimmering Lago del Toro and sweeping views to the Paine Massif, its one of our favourite options for exploring Chile’s most famous national park.
Accommodation
Located in a private 100,00ha reserve bordering the Torres del Paine National Park, this luxury tented camp offers eco-friendly yurt-style accommodation, flavoursome seasonal food and a full programme of activities that take in the lagoons, glaciers and soaring peaks of its spectacular location. Drawing inspiration from Africa’s most luxurious safari camps, Patagonia Camp offers 20 en suite luxury yurts with woven fabrics, handcrafted furniture, skylights for stargazing and mesmerising views towards shimmering Lago del Toro and granite spires of the Paine Massif. Three brand new superior and family yurts new for the 2016 season have their own private terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi.
Dining
Enjoy local dishes with gourmet flair at the camp’s excellent restaurant, where ingredients such as southern hake, king crab, salmon and succulent lamb adorn a menu bursting with flavour and finesse. And, with the ever-present Lago del Toro as its backdrop, it’s the perfect setting for relaxing over a long meal and a perfectly paired glass of Chilean wine sourced from the acclaimed Matetic Vineyards in the central Rosario Valley – another Wexas favourite.
Facilities
From glacier tours walks and full-day hikes to kayaking, horse riding, stand-up paddling and fishing the lodge offers a full range of activities both inside the national park and among its scenic surrounds. Perhaps head to the condor viewpoint to see these majestic birds soaring above granite peaks, or take a zodiac tour along the Serrano River to an iceberg-filled lagoon – the possibilities are endless.
