Queen Anne Inn, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

Location  

Magnificently restored and outwardly identical in appearance to its original 1865 form, the splendid Queen Anne Inn resides off the street surrounded by elm and maple trees near the centre of the seaside community of Annapolis Royal. The town itself is steeped in colonial and Revolutionary history and is an officially designated National Historic Site of Canada. It sits on the famously scenic roadway of the Evangeline Trail, on the south shore of the Annapolis River in western Nova Scotia. Beyond the many attractions of the town, a short drive will bring you to Kejimkujik National Park or to the whale-watching mecca of the Bay of Fundy.

Accommodation 

The Queen Anne Inn is a 12-room B&B and each room both possesses its own unique character and maintains the elegant period atmosphere of the property as a whole. Antique furnishings, hardwood floors, and Persian rugs can be found throughout, as well as modern essentials like WiFi, cable TV, and climate control. Many of the rooms contain four-poster beds and clawfoot bath tubs, and you can also request a room with views of the town and the river. For extra space or numbers, the largest rooms extend over two floors, spanning 600 square feet and including two bathrooms and up to three beds.

A sumptuous three-course freshly-made breakfast is included in the nightly rate and it includes home-baked breads, local jams, and seasonal ingredients. The Inn also has its own beverage menu, which is available daily until 10:30pm and can be enjoyed either in your room or in any of the property’s designated licensed areas – which include the garden patio. For lunch and dinner, the very attractive town is just a short stroll away, and includes numerous restaurant options; the staff at the Inn can help you with recommendations and reservations. If you’re feeling brave, you can follow dinner in town with a candlelight tour of the oldest English cemetery in Canada.

The Inn offers free parking to all guests, and is within easy driving distance of the Bay of Fundy, one of the most prolific feeding grounds for whales in North America. Closer to home, it’s a short walk to all the shops, restaurants, and attractions of Annapolis Royal, including a twice-weekly farmers and traders market.
