Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Bwindi Forest

Location

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is located in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Uganda. This camp is walking distance to the park entrance and gorilla trek start point. The lodge has magnificent wraparound views of the forestscape of volcanoes, verdant valleys, waterfalls, lakes and dramatic mountain ranges. It’s the ideal base for encounters with mountain gorillas that live in Bwindi as well as the other wildlife and cultural and philanthropic activities.

Accommodation

There are only eight cottages at this exclusive camp, with an intimate and exclusive atmosphere. All eight are stylish and spacious, and all feature queen-sized beds. In addition, each cottage has a large bathtub that overlooks the jungle canopy, as well as a private viewing deck that’s the ideal place to enjoy a cocktail served by your personal attendant.

Dining

Dining at the camp caters to any specific requirements. The bar and dining cottage overlook the rainforest, and there’s a raised natural platform that’s ideal for open-air dining. For breakfast, enjoy a full English or a continental breakfast before your morning activities. If you’re out on a trek, the camp will pack you a delicious lunch including fresh fruit, sweet and savoury cuisine. Dinners are silver service with four to five courses each evening. If you’d prefer, you can have romantic private dinners in a location of your choice.

Facilities

There’s a great spa at the camp, the perfect way to unwind after a long day of gorilla tracking. All products used in the spa are natural, organic and chemical free. Other activities on offer from camp include a community walk to introduce you to the local people and the Batwa tribal experience. There are also birding walks, forest walks, and a drive to the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
