Location
Located on South Africa’s famous Garden Route, from Cape Town to the Sunshine Coast, Kariega Game Reserve is situated 10 minutes from the coastal village of Kenton-on-Sea, with an approximate transfer time of 80 minutes from Port Elizabeth. Settlers Drift Lodge is located within a remote and untouched part of the Kariega wilderness, overlooking the Bushman’s River within 22,000 acres of pristine African landscapes.
Accommodation
Nine spacious and luxurious tents accommodate guests at Settlers Drift, all featuring secluded viewing decks overseeing the Bushman’s River and offering panoramic views of the African wilderness and the occasional giraffe or zebra visitor. Inside the air-conditioned tents, opulent living and bedroom space add to the feeling of indulgence, alongside indoor and outdoor showers, free-standing bath tubs and personal wood-burning stove.
Dining
All meals are included, with the lodge's modern restaurant offering a full and varied menu, with some dishes taking influence from the African bush. It's all paired with the finest South African and international wines chosen straight from the cellar and served to sweeping views across the valley.
Facilities
Activities include twice daily game drives at dawn or dusk, with opportunities in seeing the ‘Big Five’- lions hunting and grazing hippos. The safari experience can be complemented by boat river cruises, game walks, fishing, canoeing and kayaking down the Kariega River for a chance to bird-watch and enjoy sun downers. When winding down after action packed mornings, guests can cool off in the swimming pool, relax within the bar, lounge and library, or recover with an indulgent spa treatment.
