Location
Nestled in the heart of 14000hectares, Thornybush Reserve borders the Kruger National Park and here lies Shumbalala Game Lodge. Situated on the banks of the seasonal Monwana River, Shumbalala Lodge offers an oasis of luxury and comfort in the African Bushveld. Nearest airport from Shumbalala is Hoedspruit Airport, road transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.
Accommodation
The exclusive and luxurious lodge features four spacious and beautifully appointed suites, ensuring an intimate experience. All Superior Suites promise privacy and exclusivity, set under shady African trees, featuring a bedroom, lounge, en-suite bathroom, large glass sliding doors and private viewing decks with views. The rooms also include a choice of king or twin bedded rooms, private boma and secluded outdoor showers. The Presidential Suite is a pure haven of space and opulence, with two en-suite bedrooms, private dining room and lounge, wrap around deck with outdoor dining facilities, private boma and plunge pool.
Dining
A sumptuous affair, the in-house chef caters specifically for the preferences of guests, an advantage of staying in an intimate lodge such as Shumbalala. Depending on the weather, guests can dine in a variety of locations; enjoy brunch on the veranda overlooking the river, high tea on the viewing deck and dinner within the open air boma. An elegant dining room offers an inviting lounge for cooler evenings, or a romantic dinner in the wine cellar with a view over the watering hole is an experience not to be missed.
Facilities
Two game drives occurring early morning and later afternoon are conducted by knowledgeable and experienced rangers, in an informative and relaxed fashion. Guests have the opportunity to spot an abundance of wildlife, including Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Zebra, Impala, Giraffe, Hippo, Warthogs, Monkeys, Blue Wildebeest, various smaller game, birds of prey, smaller birds and nocturnal animals. Other activities include game walks and wildlife photography, a dip in the outdoor pool or a visit to the library.
