Activity adventure | Off the beaten track
Siwash is a small yet sophisticated guest ranch that offers the opportunity to indulge in authentic adventures amidst breathtaking scenery. Regarded as one of the finest wilderness experiences in Canada, this family-owned guest ranch is renowned for superb horse riding, pasture-to-plate dining and for being charmingly unpretentious. It is also one of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World.
Location
There are a number of ways to access Siwash Lake Ranch. If you are on a self-drive holiday, the ranch is a great place to break the journey between Vancouver and the Rocky Mountain resorts of Jasper or Banff. From Vancouver the drive is around 5 ½ hours and from Whistler just over 4 hours, Siwash to Jasper is 6 hours. If you prefer a shorter transfer you can fly to Kamloops or Williams Lake and Siwash can arrange to collect you. Siwash Lake is also accessible by floatplane from Vancouver and the flight takes approximately an hour and a half.
Accommodation
Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort offers a choice of accommodation that includes Ranch House Suites, the Caribou Suite and the private Canvas Cabins. The Ranch House Suites are located in the main ranch building, although each one is different, expect rustic furnishings and beautiful views in all. The Caribou Suite is a short walk from the main lodge and is a beautifully restored log barn. For those seeking total privacy however, the private safari suites set on the Ridge at Siwash offer the ultimate experience. Each has two rooms, one of which is the master bedroom, wood burning stove, a private furnished sun deck and full power. Each tent also has a full ensuite bathroom with an indoor/outdoor shower.
Dining
Dining at Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort focuses on all that is grown on the ranch and you can enjoy an intimate dinner for two or a more hearty family gathering in the ranch house dining room. Mornings start with a ‘wake up’ tray outside your door loaded with fresh coffee or tea and homemade muffins. Full breakfast is served in the dining room and lunch, served outdoors whenever possible, will be healthy soups, pasta and salads and freshly made bread. Canapés are enjoyed on the sun deck or by the fire before a leisurely three course dinner. During the warmer months there may be evening barbeques and cook-outs overlooking the lake.
Facilities
Siwash Synergy with Horses™ is regarded as one of Canada’s finest riding programmes and caters for first time beginners through to experienced riders. Alongside the horse riding there is fly-fishing, wilderness survival, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and much more. The Sigh-Wash Spa is a unique tented spa set in the woods where the only sound is sound of the wind and the birds in the trees above you.
