Location
Located on Clayoquot Sound, Vancouver Island, the resort is a 45-minute seaplane flight from Vancouver or a 30-minute boat ride from Tofino. On arrival you are transported from the waters edge by horse and cart to the resort.
Accommodation
20 white safari-style tent suites are dotted through the resort, either along the water’s edge or among the trees. There are 15 Luxury Ensuite Tents with a king size bed, day bed, full ensuite bathroom with underfloor heating and an indoor/outdoor shower. Five of the original Deluxe Outpost Tents offer one queen size bed and a day bed or two single beds. Private flushing toilets are just outside and a private shower room exclusively for your use is in the nearby shower house.
All tents have thermostat controlled propane wood stoves, plush rugs, polished antiques, oil lamps and an abundance of candles.
Dining
The Executive Chef at Clayoquot is a Vancouver Island native and focuses on using the local produce of the Cascadia region, which stretches from the south of Alaska coast through British Columbia to the northern tip of California. The food is superb and the commitment to keeping everything local and sustainable can be seen on every menu. There is a cosy dining room with a roaring log fire, crisp linens and gleaming silver. A stay here includes all meals, gourmet snacks and both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.
Facilities
There are two recreation tents; the Lounge Tent which lends itself to the gentle pleasures of conversation and pre dinner drinks. The second is the Games Tent where a full billiards table sits among the comfy seats. The daily list of activities available is highly personal and based on your own preferences. Horsemanship and riding are signature experiences but you can also enjoy surf lessons on a deserted beach, walk the ‘wild side’ interpretive trail with a First Nations Guide, take to the waters in an ocean kayak and enjoy the wildlife viewing that is part of every day life here.
