Location
Winchester is in the Shenandoah Valley, just 70 miles from Washington DC and home to Shenandoah National Park with its pristine forests and geologically significant limestone caves. The hotel is located in Old Town Winchester, within a 5 minute walk of historical attractions including Handley Regional Library and Old Court House Civil War Museum.
Accommodation
The comfortably appointed rooms are decorated in neutral tones, with dark wood furnishings and marble bathrooms. Amenities include flat panel TVs, Keurig coffee maker, pillow top mattresses, Herman Miller desk chair and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. The suites have separate living area and bigger bathrooms, featuring vanity for two, private WC, rainfall shower and whirlpool tub.
Dining
Meals are taken in the casual George’s Food & Spirits eatery, located on the lower level of the hotel. Diners can expect traditional American cuisine like soups, salads and burgers as well as entrees like ribeye steak with a Bourbon glaze or chargrilled mahi with quinoa. The Half Note Lounge is an elegant piano bar with comfortable low sofas and tables arranged around a beautiful bar area where expertly poured cocktails and appetisers are served and live music is often played.
Facilities
Guests can enjoy swimming in the indoor heated Roman-style pool with an adjoining whirlpool to ease away stresses. There is a small gym and fitness area, plus a full service health spa offering a wide range of treatments to soothe body and mind. The impressive lobby, which still holds the original front desk, has marble flooring and high ceilings and there is a business centre and grand ballroom, popular for hosting weddings in summer.
