Location
Red-brick Federalist facades, old cobbled streets, gas-lit lampposts, oyster bars and chowder shacks, collegiate bookshops and under-the-radar museums and galleries – the lesser-known charms of America’s ‘walking city’ are as delightful as the Boston heavyweights: Fenway Park, the Freedom Trail and the Georgian brick buildings of Harvard Yard. Thankfully all can be enjoyed when you stay at The Langham, whose ideal location in the heart of downtown Boston puts you right amongst the action.
Accommodation
There’s more than a touch of old world elegance to the rooms and suites here. Neo-classical décor and marble bathrooms are all but guaranteed, while suites provide separate living and sleeping quarters. Views vary between the Boston skyline and the historic Norman B. Levanthal Park at Post Office Square. Signature Langham touches are also found throughout – if you’re a fan, for example, of The Langham, London, you’ll feel right at home in its sister across the pond.
Dining
Among the timeless grandeur, you’ll find a few surprises at The Langham, Boston, especially when it comes to desserts. The now renowned Chocolate Bar – open every Saturday from September through to June – features over 100 alluring desserts in an all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet. For any ardent chocoholic it’s a dream come true. Other dining delights include the champagne lounge The Reserve, the hotel’s timeless Sunday Brunch, the seasonal menus of Café Fleuri, and The Langham’s signature Afternoon Tea with Wedgewood, which gives the tea rooms of London a run for their money.
Facilities
The sumptuous Chuan Spa offers a startling array of massages and treatments – we lost count at 60 – while the state-of-the-art fitness studio means you need never miss a beat of your aerobic routine. There’s also a rather charming pool pavilion with a heated swimming pool – perfect for a refreshing dip after pounding the pathways of Boston’s Freedom Trail.
