Location
Set on the banks of Rogues River, a couple of miles upstream from Grants Pass, the Lodge enjoys an enviable location overlooking the rushing waters. As a result, the area is often best known for its excellent fishing with guided trips able to be arranged. The river is home to a variety of life ranging from summer steelhead to salmon. For a faster pace, there’s also excellent white water rafting and, for the less nautically inclined, there are an abundance of hiking trails. There are also several Rogue Valley wineries, some of the best that Oregon wine country has to offer.
Accommodation
Restoration on the lodge – completed in 1998 – has brought it back to its early 20th century glory days with timber cabins housing blonde wood furnishings. All feature pillow-top beds while most come with river-rock fireplaces and others still have en suite, oversized Jacuzzi tubs. Look for accommodation with fireside seating areas for cosy evenings in or a balcony with views over the lodge’s grounds and ponds. You’ll also find lodging right on the river’s banks and an original ‘A frame’ cabin, ideal for families.
Dining
Despite not featuring a full restaurant for lunch and dinner, the lodge does an excellent job of keeping its guests fed and watered. Start the day with a full, cooked breakfast with everything from bacon and waffles to fresh fruit and scones before ending it with equally complimentary milk and freshly baked cookies. In between, you’ll also enjoy afternoon hors do ‘oeuvres, again free of charge. For more substantial fare, Grants Pass features an excellent series of riverside restaurants serving a range of Northwestern classics.
Facilities
At Weasku, stays aren’t about dramatic resort facilities and more about appreciating the area’s natural attractions. Take a hot air balloon ride over picturesque hills, valleys and rivers or choose from an array of guided trips including white-water rafting, fishing and hiking. There’s also complimentary WiFi available so you can let everyone know just how much you’re up to.
