Expedition cruise | History & culture
Between a guided hike, fishing jaunts and a catamaran cruise, you’ll fully appreciate the picture-perfect serenity of Taupo’s shores. Your guide will pick you up at your accommodation to bring you, by 4WD, to the start of a two-hour hike down to Kawakawa Bay – an idyllic slice of sand framed by rocky headlands, themselves carpeted in dense verdure. The track takes you up to the highest rocky outcrop where you’ll enjoy views across the beaches and greenery to the lake’s southern volcanoes. On board your cruise, you’ll intersperse your lunch – complemented by a fine New Zealand vintage – with trout fishing and clay target shooting as you return to Taupo Marina. A real highlight is the close-up views of the Maori cliff carvings.
