Lake Louise has long been hailed as one of Alberta's most picturesque sights, and moreover, Canada itself. The turquoise water lies bright against a frame of dense greenery and dominating peaks, perfectly discovered in both summer, when canoes pepper its tranquil expanse, and winter, a blanket of white creating a magical, silent canopy. And what better way to explore it than from the comfort of a luxury train? This two-day extension begins or ends among the scenic shores of the lake, and passes through authentic Canadian coastal towns, endless dense forest and farmland-lined train tracks, speeding over rushing canyons and even affording chances to spot moose, bears and eagles. You'll enjoy traditional Canadian meals cooked by Michelin-trained chefs, and paired with the famous Canadian hospitality, it makes for the perfect relaxing addition to a western Canada road trip.

Kamloops to Lake Louise
Alberta is a scene that will long be etched in your mind as you speed across ranchlands dotted with grazing animals, discovering bright blue lakes and mountain passes that tumble into the valley below. If you've chosen a GoldLeaf train car, take the chance to observe your surrounds from one of the viewing platforms at the end of each coach. Highlights include the Spiral Tunnels, one of North America’s most steep rail tracks; Rogers Pass, a towering mountain pass surrounded by steep verdant slopes; and the soaring passage of the Kicking Horse Canyon. It's all culminated with, of course, the famous Rockies, where a roaming bear or caribou is not an unlikely spot among the shimmering turquoise of Lake Louise.
