Introduction
Africa's natural wonders are iconic and world-renowned. They include such well-known landmarks as Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, the Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Off-the-beaten path but well worth travelling to are the Ruwenzori Mountains in Uganda and the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia.
The Nile River, the Chobe River and the Zambezi provide a different type of natural wonder to marvel at, whilst Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria act as enormous inland seas. Egypt's Red Sea coast is spectacular and home to a wealth of marine life.
Elsewhere on the continent, look out for the Sahara desert in Morocco, the Namib Desert and Sossusvlei dunes in Namibia, the Cango caves in South Africa, the Avenue of the Baobabs on Madagascar, the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Fish River Canyon in Namibia and Victoria Falls in Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Elsewhere on the continent there are dense jungles in Uganda and Rwanda, vast savannahs full of wildlife in Kenya, spectacular beaches in Zanzibar, exceptional dive sites off Egypt's Red Sea coast, breath-taking gorges such as Fish River Canyon in Namibia, vast Sahara deserts in Morocco and towering dunes such as Sossusvlei in Namibia, whilst Victoria Falls in Zambia and Zimbabwe are simply stunning.
These are just a handful of the options available though. You can also tailor-make your natural world holiday in Africa by adding a city stay, beach holiday or safari to your itinerary; talk to a destination specialist to see what we can do for you.
