Introduction
The idyllic islands of the Caribbean are breath-taking at the best of times, but still boast some stand-out attractions. The natural wonders of the Caribbean both on land and below the waves are yet more reasons to visit the region.
Underwater wonders include the National Marine Park in Bonaire, the Baths in the British Virgin Islands and Stingray City off Grand Cayman. Elsewhere, kayak to the Bioluminescent Bay on Puerto Rico to swim in water full of bioluminescent bacteria which glow when disturbed.
On land, visit the twin volcanic peaks of the Pitons on St Lucia or the highly active, often angry Soufriere Hills volcano on Montserrat. Climb Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica, pausing to cool off in the many plunge pools along the way. El Yunque Rainforest on Puerto Rico is the most famous jungle in the region, whilst Harrison Cave on Barbados is a world-class labyrinth of underground galleries full of stalactites and stalagmites. The Pitch Lake on Trinidad is a vast hissing, steaming lake of liquid asphalt, the largest of its kind in the world and an interesting counterpoint to all the other attractive wonders in the Caribbean.
These are just a handful of the options available though. You can also tailor-make your natural world holiday in the Caribbean by adding a city stay or beach holiday to your itinerary; talk to a destination specialist to see what we can do for you.
