Introduction
There is nowhere on Earth like the pristine wilderness of Norway to preserve the habitats of some of our favourite creatures – reindeer, whales, puffins, eagles and moose are just some of the beloved species that you can see up close when you travel to Norway.
We’ve created our itineraries to provide a range of options, from active hiking and trekking holidays through the Lyngen Alps to restful getaways in Senja that allow you to try fjord cruises, bird watching and other activities at your own pace.
Discover the wide variety of local wildlife
Bears, elks, lynx and more populate the forests and mountains of Norway, and you can see them for yourself with a wildlife safari led by an expert guide. Many travellers find that just by driving through the countryside, one can frequently spot species such as reindeer and foxes in their habitat.
Explore the waterways of Norway and meet their residents
Particularly in the winter months, whale watchers in Norway are likely to be rewarded with a visit from a pod. While they may often be narrow, the depth of many fjords makes them good places to spot orcas and other whales, and on the shore you may well see seals, elk and other clusters of puffins. In fact, the view from a Hurtigruten or other cruise can actually allow travellers to see many land animals they wouldn’t be able to view down the steep mountainsides.
