Introduction
The towering dunes of Sossuvlei inside the Namib-Naukluft Park - the largest nature reserve in Africa - offer the most evocative landscapes of this dramatic country.
Sossuvlei is one of the world's most striking and easily accessible desert landscapes and a highlight of any trip to Namibia. The dunes, part of the Namib Desert, are thought to be among the highest in the world and climbing to the top of these giants provides remarkable views of the whole area, including Deadvlei, a large expanse of dried white clay studded with the petrified remains of ancient camelthorn trees.
A fantastic way to appreciate the dunes is with a desert flight, ballooning trip or a desert hike.
