Introduction
Namibia's capital city, Windhoek, is located in the central highlands, spread over a series of picturesque valleys.
Windhoek has an interesting mix of architecture, especially along Independence Avenue, where you'll find numerous cafes and outdoor restaurants lining the side streets.
Namibia's capital also has a number of war memorials dating back to early German colonial occupation. Highlights include the Alte Feste area, the castles of Schwerinburg, Heinitzburg and Sanderburg, and the city's many museums and galleries.
