Introduction
Nha Trang is arguably Vietnam's best-known beach resort, popular with domestic and international visitors alike. Its vibrant waterfront boasts pristine white sands, a buzzing entertainment scene and plenty of luxury resorts. It's also ringed by a network of islands and surrounded on all three sides by picturesque mountain ranges – in short, it's impossibly scenic.
Nha Trang grew from the relative obscurity of a small Cham fishing town, and signs of the Cham heritage can still be found in the surrounding countryside. The intricately detailed Po Nagar Cham Towers are a fine example of this, and a contrast to the grand gothic-styled Nha Trang Cathedral, which marked the arrival of the French. Despite this rich history, the main draw for visitors remains the white sandy beaches, clear waters and warm weather, and with fantastic swimming, snorkelling and diving in and around the bay, it's easy to see why.
