Costa Verde - the Green Coast - stretches from Mangaratibe, just south of Rio de Janeiro, to São Sebastião in São Paulo state. The steep, rainforest-clad Serra do Mar mountains rise up dramatically from the emerald sea, pristine sandy beaches and sleepy coastal towns and villages of the Costa Verde.

Ilha Grande is a small, sparkling island off the Costa Verde. It's easily reached by ferry from the mainland port of Angra dos Reis and is regarded as one of southeast Brazil's most majestic islands - largely undisturbed and topographically spectacular.
Angra dos Reis is situated on a scenic bay on the Costa Verde, to the west of Rio de Janeiro. For many, Angra dos Reis is the gateway to the Green Coast, which stretches southwest of here.
