Beginning with a stay in vibrant Toronto, this tailor-made rail journey brings you through the rich landscapes and cultures of Ontario, finishing over the border in cosmopolitan Montréal. In between, you'll enjoy the history of Kingston – Canada's first capital – and head to the spectacular Thousand Islands National Park for a scenic cruise.

UK to Toronto
Enjoy a relaxing start to your holiday with included UK airport lounge access before your flight to Toronto. On arrival, make your way to your hotel before heading out to explore the city. The waterfront area is a great place to start, its setting providing a scenic backdrop for the attractions of downtown, where you'll find, among others, The Royal Ontario Museum and The Art Gallery of Ontario – Canada’s oldest art gallery. Take in the sweeping panoramic views of Toronto, Lake Ontario and the distant U.S from the top of the CN Tower, walk on the glass floor and sample some local cuisine in the Horizon's Cafe which revolves over 530 metres up.

Toronto to Kingston
This morning head to Union Station and enjoy the facilities of the Business class lounge before boarding the train. Complimentary newspapers and non-alcoholic beverages are available in the lounge. Once on your way, the train follows the shores of Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes of North America, to Trenton Junction, where the St. Lawrence River flows from the lake. Just past Napanee, look south as you cross the river to view a series of beautiful waterfalls, before arriving into Kingston, the early capital of the “Province of Canada” (1841-1867)

Kingston
Spend the morning visiting Fort Henry which still watches the approach from Lake Ontario and the UNESCO recognized Rideau Canal system, discover the many museums, or simply explore Kingston's lakefront where winding cobblestone paths give it a European feel. You will then join a 1000 Islands cruise and enjoy a three course meal while gliding past small cottage islands and grand estates and listening to commentary about the history and folklore of the region.

Kingston to Montreal
The morning is yours for some final explorations of Kingston before you travel by VIA Rail along the magnificent St. Lawrence River to Montreal which beckons as the final stop. Then, once you've arrived into Montréal, check into your city-centre hotel before heading out to explore its big-city highlights, both above ground and below. Indeed, hidden below street level is a maze of shopping malls and plazas, created to combat the ferocious winter storms. Above ground there's much to keep you enthralled, with a staggering collection of museums and galleries, a host of festivals, several world-class restaurants and the atmospheric French Quarter, home to the imposing Notre Dame Basilica, all at their best during those warm, summer months.

Montreal
Today enjoy a food walking tour taking in at least 6 of your local guide’s favourite eateries and watering holes. From artisan charcuteries to thirst quenching craft beers, a trip to the Jean-Talon Market helps the to grasp the fact that farm-to-table is nothing new in town. Sample some tasty regional delicacies and meet the producers who take pride in the quality and distinction of their harvest.
