We were proud this week when Sir Ranulph Fiennes, legendary explorer and Wexas Honorary President, summited the highest peak in Europe as part of his Global Reach Challenge in aid of the terminal illness charity Marie Curie.
Mount Elbrus, located in the Caucasus mountain range in southern Russia, stands more than 5,600 meters tall and poses a challenge for even the most seasoned climber. And having previously summited Mount Everest, Mount Kilimanjaro, and both polar ice caps, Sir Ranulph is certainly experienced.
The Marie Curie UK website says, "Sir Ranulph Fiennes has explored the farthest reaches of the globe and now he’s going even further by completing the Global Reach Challenge to raise funds for Marie Curie, helping us care for more people living with a terminal illness. By completing the challenge, the 72-year-old will become the first person to have crossed both polar ice caps and climbed the highest mountains on each continent. It will be the culmination of a lifetime of exploration and death defying challenges."
