Drive through stunning scenery around Yamdrok Lake and visit Shigatse, Tibet’s second city and an important spiritual centre. Lhasa
Arrive in Lhasa and check into your hotel. Your tour the next day begins with the golden-roofed Jokhang Monastery, a curious blend of prostrating pilgrims, wafting incense and thought-provoking darkness. You'll then visit Barkor Street, an astonishing Tibetan-style stock exchange and hive of market activity. The afternoon touring brings you to the magnificent Potala Palace, perched atop Red Mountain, with its 1000 rooms and roofs gilded with copper and gold this was once the centre of the Tibetan government and is a former home of the Dalai Lamas. The next day enjoy a full day tour of Norbulingka, which used to be the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama, and visit the Drepung Monastery, the largest in the world, and home to 700 monks in residence. You'll also see the Sera Monastery, built in the 15th century.

Gyangtse
Drive the long way to Gyangtse, and enjoy stunning views of Yamdrok Lake with its pretty islands, inlets and yaks grazing on the shores. Spend the night at a simple but comfortable hotel..

Shigatse
Continue to Shigatse, Tibet’s second city and an important spiritual centre. Enjoy visit's to the Phalkor Monastery revered for its superb Kumbum stupa and the Tashilunpo Monastery, with its golden roofs and jewel-studded chortens this is the official seat of the Panchen Lama, second only to the Dalai Lama.

Xegar
Today you'll enjoy a scenic drive to Xegar at the foot of the Himalayas and in the shadow of the world's highest peak – Mount Everest, known by Tibetans as Chomolungma, Mother Goddess of the World. Along your route, you'll stop with your guide to visit the Sakya Monastery.

Shigatse
Drive to Rongbuk and a visit to the Rongbuk Monastery, the highest in the world. Afterwards, you'll get to experience Everest Base Camp, stand in the footsteps of the epic mountaineers as this is where most start their assault on the summit from the Chinese side. There is time to try and absorb the awe-inspiring view of the world’s tallest mountain before returning to Shigatse for the night.

Lhasa
After breakfast, you'll take a slightly different route back to Lhasa for your final night in Tibet. The rest of the day is free for some last minute sightseeing and shopping.
