Location

This boutique resort, designed with couples in mind and strictly adults only, is prettily located at Vigie on St Lucia's secluded north west coast. Set along two miles of Malabar's sweeping sands, it's idyllically peaceful while being just a short transfer from the airport and the lively capital, Castries.

Accommodation

Small but perfectly formed, the hotel has just 100 luxurious rooms and suites, all air-conditioned and furnished in traditional Caribbean style, with touches of rattan and mahogany and solid maple four-poster beds. Choose between Seaside Suites, located in the verdant gardens and opening on to the seaside pool, or Verandah Suites, which are set a little further back from the beach but with large, private verandahs. Alternatively there are the recently refurbished luxury beach front rooms, suites and cottages; all of these have balconies or terraces overlooking Malabar beach.

Dining

The dining here is excellent, with two superb restaurants to choose from. The Terrace is open during the day for both breakfast and lunch, and then in the evening when romantic candlelit dinners are served. For a fine dining experience try Trysting Palace where the candlelight, soothing guitarist, delicate bone china and superb a la carte menu make the perfect romantic setting. Rendezvous also provide a personalised dining experience where couples can escape to secluded parts of the resort and eat from a menu created exclusively for them.

Evening cocktails or champagne can be enjoyed in a choice of two wonderful bars. The Terrace Bar provides music, dancing and entertainment every night and is a great spot for guests seeking a refreshing cocktail and a lively atmosphere. Alternatively, the air-conditioned Piano Bar has a comprehensive drinks menu and stays open until the last guest goes to bed. During the daytime there's also a swim-up poolside bar where guests can enjoy a refreshing drink while soaking up the warm Caribbean sun.

Facilities

After a £9m refurbishment, the resort's facilities are now even better than ever, with a new spa and water garden forming the centrepiece of the resort. The spa offers the ultimate in relaxation and provides guests with a range of treatments from massages to pedicures. Many guests will of course spend their days lying by the pool or the beach, but if you're looking for activities Rendezvous has a wide variety of facilities to get you off the sun lounger with golf, archery, volleyball, yoga and complimentary water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing scuba diving and kayaking available either in or close to the resort. For guests returning home on evening flights the resort's new hospitality suite, with showers and lounge available throughout the day, is another of the resort's many plus points.
