Once part of the Russian Empire until 1867, Sitka still shows its Russian History. The onion-shaped dome of St. Michael’s church is a story of the Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska. Today it holds an impressive collection of Russian Orthodox art and is a memorable sight against the sub-arctic skyline. Located just off the coast of Yukutat, the Hubbard Glacier is Alaska’s largest, measuring more than six miles wide at its face.
