Hunter Valley By Train

At Sydney Central station, you'll board the express train to the Hunter Valley. Heading north from Sydney, you'll enjoy the comfort of a pre-reserved carriage as New South Wales countryside whips past your window for the next three hours. You'll cross the Hawkesbury River and pass working oyster farms and beds before arriving into Singleton Railway Station by lunchtime. An included transfer sees you to the Hunter Valley Resort, a country lodge set among 70 secluded acres of gardens and vineyards and your accommodation for the next two nights. This afternoon, enjoy a unique Wine Theatre experience, combining a fascinating visual presentation with a wine tutorial, teaching you how to taste front palate sweetness, acidity, back palate tannins, and more. Tonight, you might choose to dine at Matilda Bay Brewhouse Hunter Valley Resort, featuring a menu of regional and Italian cuisine.

This morning after an included Continental breakfast you may wish to take an optional Hot Air Balloon ride over Wine Country, before touring the vineyards and taking part in a wine tasting with the resort's own cellar master. There are plenty of other activities on offer, including electric bike hire, tennis, swimming, Segway back country tours to see Kangaroos and horseback riding. Take a stroll out of the resort and you'll come across five winery Cellar Doors and a host of local restaurants – perfect for a leisurely lunch. An optional Hop on Hop off Bus service or Gourmet Lunch Tour are also available. This evening, dine locally or once again sample the menu at the onsite brewhouse.

This morning you'll enjoy another delicious breakfast followed by free time to explore the resort, perhaps with a walk on one of the resort's trails or a relaxing treatment at the onsite Heavenly Hunter Massage Centre. By lunchtime, you'll transfer back to the station to board the train back to Sydney.
