Introduction
The small town of Krabi takes its name from the krabi, or sword, allegedly discovered here.
Krabi is a bustling and friendly waterfront port on the Lower Andaman Coast surrounded by tall limestone outcrops on the banks of the Krabi Estuary. It's the jumping off point for Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta as well as tours around Phangnga Bay and Wat Tham Suwan Kuha.
Rock climbing, riverboat trips, birdwatching, hiking in the national parks and reserves and sea canoeing are all popular in and around Krabi.
