Location
Situated upon the rugged cliffs of the Cape Coast, Birkenhead Hotel steals an enviable location with easy access to the beach and breath-taking ocean views. The nearest airport is Cape Town International, located 128km and roughly 90minutes away by car.
Accommodation
Birkenhead House offers 11 rooms and five suites, all beautifully furnished and offer vistas of either Walker Bay or the Kleinrivier mountain range. The Standard suites are furnished with king-size beds and a balcony, with the amenities and features only becoming more luxurious as the rooms upgrade, including Luxury, Superior and Deluxe Superior. For the upmost in sophistication, the Birkenhead Villas offer expansive views in top quality accommodation, features include extended rooms, en-suite facilities, and secluded private patio space.
Dining
World-class cuisine is served by the Hermanus Restaurant in Birkenhead House. Homemade breads, ice creams and delicacies including freshly caught local fish are on offer, subtle mixture of modern African cuisine, Cape seafood, traditional French fusions and Asian and Italian influences. Only fresh ingredients and produce are used in meals, which can be enjoyed overlooking the ocean, poolside, in the glass-fronted dining room or within the privacy of the guests own suite. Menus and meals can be designed to meet guests’ individual requirements and requests.
Facilities
Aside from Hermanus whale watching, there are arrays of activities for guests to engage in on both land and sea, highlighting why Hermanus is a popular destination in South Africa. For those craving an adrenaline-filled experience, shark cage diving is available, as well as quad biking, deep-sea fishing sea-kayaking and scuba diving, whilst those wanting to relax can unwind by the dual pools, yoga classes, leisurely bike rides, a visit to the indulgent spa or with a round of golf. Inquisitive travellers can embark on a voyage to Dyer Island, venture into the village of Stanford and visit local wine farms and townships or experience the lush mountain trails and walks.
