Location
The Brunton Boatyard is a sea facing hotel located in the old Fort Kochi, and is built in a traditional Keralan style. It's located on a historic stretch of the town's famed harbour, and has been refurbished from the remains of a Victorian shipbuilding yard. Its interiors are inspired by a blend of English, Portuguese and Dutch influence, with soaring ceilings, hanging fans and curio and artefacts.
Accommodation
There are 22 rooms in the Brunton Boatyard, which all overlook the sea, as do their en-suite bathrooms. Rooms all have four-poster beds, from which you can look out over the water and watch the dolphins.
Dining
The hotel's History Restaurant offers a range of historical cuisine. Each dish reflects one of the 30 different communities that live in Kochi, which all have their own individual stories and tastes. Specialties include their famous First Class Railway Mutton Curry, which is made with a secret recipe, a Fish Moilee, and a Vindaloo. All food is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients including fish caught that morning, and spices from the local town. There's also a terrace grill serving the catch of the day.
Facilities
The hotel offers a number of complimentary facilities. These include sunset cruises, yoga, cookery demonstrations, a health club, Wi-Fi, a swimming pool and bicycles that are available to hire. There are also many things to do, including walking and cycling tours, sunset history cruises, and sight seeing trips. There's also a Baul music festival, which takes place in the hotel's courtyard.
