Relaxation
Location
The chief town of Nordland County, Bodo lies north of the Arctic Circle and just south of the Lofoten Islands, a spectacular archipelago of soaring mountains, deep blue fjords, squawking seabirds, surf-swept beaches and picturesque, colourful fishing villages. The hotel is located conveniently close to Bodo Airport, from which flights can be taken to the Lofotens, but also to the Norwegian Aviation Museum, Landego Lighthouse, the Bodin Church, Nordland County Museum and the Bodo Cathedral.
Accommodation
This is certainly our recommended accommodation option in Bodo. Rooms are cosy and well appointed, and many have views of Ronvikfjell Mountain, about five miles from the city. Coffee, tea and fresh fruit are available 24 hours a day, the Wi-Fi is complimentary, and both an organic breakfast and a light evening buffet are included in the room rate. Choose from Standard, Superior or Deluxe room categories.
Dining
The hotel’s generous, wholesome breakfast buffet sets you up for the day perfectly. Delicious home-baked treats appear from the kitchen between 3pm and 6pm each afternoon – indicative of the hotel’s home-from-home atmosphere – while a complimentary light evening meal of soup, salad, a warm dish and desert is served every day between 6pm and 9pm.
Facilities
There’s a compact gym for anyone looking for some extra exercise, as well as a beautiful steam sauna to unwind in. There’s also a well-stocked exchange library, where you can trade in your finished book for one you find on the library shelves, completely free of charge. Aside from the attractions listed under the location section, another worthwhile excursion is to Saltsraumen, the world’s strongest maelstrom, where a well-timed visit could see you witness whirlpools up to ten metres wide. It was the inspiration for Edgar Allan Poe’s Descent into the Maelstrom.
