Location

Located on remote Fogo Island off the northeast coast of Newfoundland, Canada, Fogo Island Inn is a unique retreat halfway between the equator and the North Pole. The largest in an archipelago of islands at the eastern edge of the North American continent, Fogo Island Inn is a cutting-edge contemporary hotel that's far enough away from the mainland to be secluded, but close enough for short getaways.

Accommodation

Designed by architect Todd Saunders, the hotel embodies the new 'outport' aesthetic that has emerged on the island - a mixture of traditional Newfoundland design and modernist minimalism. All 29-guest suites have floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the North Atlantic Ocean, and are decorated with locally made textiles and furniture. Most have cosy wood-burning stoves and four-piece bathrooms.

Dining

Fogo Island Inn serves locally sourced cuisine, grown on the island and made with time-honoured Newfoundland traditions. The menu is focused around seasonal produce, and includes a rich bounty of fish and crustaceans, diverse harvests of berries and mushroom foraged from the surrounding marshland. It's a well-known fact that the island has seven seasons, and the cuisine reflects them all.
