Found in the heart of Brussels, Hotel Amigo seamlessly blends art, culture, heritage and creativity. Hotel Amigo has been a home away from home for the world’s great and good, who have flocked to Brussels for its world-class contemporary art, historic and cultural sights, the financial district, and the European Parliament.
Many rooms look directly out onto the roofs of the Hôtel de Ville; cast your eyes upwards and you can see the gilded St Michael slaying the devil on the tip of its spire. The front door leads straight into the web of medieval streets that surround the Grand Place. The name “Amigo”, by the way, comes from the nickname for the 16th-century prison on this site when Belgium was part of the Spanish Netherlands. Olga Polizzi, sister of Sir Rocco Forte and designer for the Rocco Forte chain, has a subtle and distinctive style: unfussy, coolly stated luxury. The close attention to detail includes locally sourced fixtures and fittings, with a distinctive Belgian touch.
All the rooms are spacious, and stylish, with large and well-equipped, marbled bathrooms. The simplest “classic” rooms are 28 square metres
The hotel has a smart Italian restaurant, Ristorante Bocconi, as befitting the origins of the Forte chain. This is also the setting for a sumptuous buffet breakfast. There is also a very stylish bar and lounge on the ground floor.
