Summary

Short description

A great base camp from which to explore the rugged outback landscapes of Kings Canyon

About

Recommended for:
Activity adventure | Natural world

Kings Canyon Resort offers comfortable rooms and plenty of facilities close to the entrance to Kings Canyon. With a swimming pool, tennis courts, a choice of restaurants and even a general store, this hotel is perfect if you're planning to spend a few days exploring this striking region of the Red Centre.

Location

The resort is just a 10 minute drive from the main entrance to Kings Canyon, one of the Red Centre's most arresting sights. It's also just over half way between Alice Springs and Uluru (Ayers Rock). If you're making your own way around the Northern Territory, the drive from Alice Springs takes around 5 ½ hours, while it's around 3½ hours to Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

Accommodation

The Deluxe Spa Rooms, set in a peaceful part of the resort, offer a rugged bush outlook. In addition to tea and coffee making facilities, refrigerator, spa bath and air-conditioning you also benefit from a private balcony overlooking the escarpment. Wi-Fi is available but this is a remote location so coverage is sometimes limited. Standard rooms are also available but are quite basic.

Dining

The Desert Oak Bistro offers breakfast, a range of light meals, beverages and snacks and is also open for dinner. The Outback BBQ & Grill is a true Aussie outback experience with an à la carte BBQ, fresh vegetables and salads along with a wide selection of wines and beers. The Thirsty Dingo Bar is a lively, casual spot perfect for a cool beer and fresh pizza after a day of exploring. During peak season (April to October) there’s also the chance to enjoy a romantic evening ‘Under a Desert Moon’ with a table set just for two by the side of a flickering fire with sparkling wine, canapés and a delicious four course meal.

Facilities

Alongside the experiences of Kings Canyon the hotel also has a swimming pool, tennis courts and a sunset viewing platform. There’s also an Outback General Store, petrol station and a souvenir shop.
