Location
The hotel occupies a former royal residence in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Luang Prabang, renowned for its blend of French colonial architecture and ornate Buddhist temples. It lies within striking distance of the famous Luang Prabang Night Market, the Royal Palace Museum and Mount Phou Si (a prime spot for sunrise and sunset views), making it a superb base for exploring all that Luang Prabang has to offer. And, despite its central location, it retains the feel of a secluded oasis, away from the hustle and bustle of the city's streets.
Accommodation
Formerly the residence of Prince Souvanna Phouma, former Prime Minister of Laos, the hotel blends elegant French colonial architecture with traditional Lao design and modern comforts. Interiors feature the likes of polished wooden floors, intricately woven textiles and subtle nods to the building's royal heritage. Accommodation ranges from Garden Wing rooms overlooking the pool to spacious suites with separate sitting areas and private balconies. The Maison Suite offers the most space, while the Laos Suite is complete with a free-standing bathtub and expansive views across the gardens.
Dining
The Elephant Blanc Restaurant is the focal point of the hotel's dining scene, which begins with a fresh and plentiful breakfast each morning. Lunch and dinner lean heavily on authentic Lao cuisine, featuring traditional dishes packed with flavour – expect plenty of herbs and spices – alongside a selection of international classics. Throughout the day, the bar offers a relaxed setting to enjoy drinks in the shade.
Facilities
At the centre of the hotel is an outdoor pool flanked by lush gardens and a wooden deck with sunbeds – a perfect spot to relax and cool off after a day of sightseeing in Luang Prabang. Tucked away among the gardens, meanwhile, is the 8lements spa, where you can indulge in a range of invigorating treatments designed to soothe body, mind and spirit. The hotel also offers complimentary bike rental, a fantastic option to explore Luang Prabang at your own pace.
