Location
Situated in the untamed wilderness of Timbavati Private Game Reserve, Motswari Game Lodge is home to a diverse range of game and bird species, including the famous Big Five. 150square kilometres make up the reserve, part of the greater Kruger Park, offering unrivalled and unforgettable safari experiences. The lodge is accessible via road and air; the drive from Johannesburg International Airport takes approximately five hours while it takes two hours from Phalaborwa Airport and from Hoedspruit Airport around 45 minutes.
Accommodation
An exclusive lodge offering an intimate experience with nature, Motswari Private Game Reserve never accommodates more than 30 people at a time. 15 luxuriously-appointed en-suite bungalows feature natural hues, romantically placed mosquito nets and boast scenic views over the African bush, alongside indulgent amenities and a dreamy ambience. The main lodge features a spacious lounge and bar area alongside a well-stocked library and art gallery. Additionally, Geiger’s Camp, with its four luxury en-suite bedrooms, further embodies African beauty, style and comfort. Secretly tucked away a few kilometres from Motswari's main safari lodge, it offers full seclusion and the opportunity for reflection and tranquillity. The 'Giraffe's Nest' treehouse lodging, complete with its own eco-bathroom, overlooks the Xanatsi Dam. Sleeping under the stars in this environment represents nature at its best.
Dining
Meals are enjoyed either in the lounge or at a scenic location whilst on safari trail, and depending on season guests can dine outdoors in the bush or inside the boma. A selection of meals: brunch, high tea and dinner are accompanied by an award-winning array of South African wines.
Facilities
The lodge does not have any spas and gyms, encouraging guests to relax and indulge in the serenity that comes from exploring the surroundings. Motswari offers guests thrilling morning and evening game drives, venturing into the untouched wildlife preserve to spot the ‘Big Five’ as well as a range of other species in the company of professional field guides and trackers. Guests can also make use of mid-morning bush walks, sleeping outdoors in the Game reserve, an outdoor pool, curio shop and conference facilities.
