Location
It’s just a few hours’ drive from Delhi to Neemrana, making it a perfect getaway from the city and an easy addition to itineraries starting or ending in the capital. Located roughly a third of the way from Delhi to Jaipur, a stay at Neemrana can also be a wonderful way to end a tour of Rajasthan’s historic forts, by actually staying in one!
Accommodation
Neemrana’s 71 rooms and suites are housed across seven wings, each with its own history and purpose. Room styles vary, many affording great views or tucked away in secret corners of the palace amid its many arches and stairways. Most are luxurious suites decorated with fine tapestries, floor mosaics and antique furniture. Among the most sought-after are Chandra Mahal, a spacious, vaulted room housed in the former hall of justice, and Hara Mahal, with a seating area set behind three distinctive peacock arches. There is also a tented accommodation option for glamping enthusiasts.
Dining
Food is served in the resort’s buffet restaurant, where a selection of Indian, Chinese, Italian and other international cuisines are available. Those wishing to taste the delights of local Rajasthani cuisine need simply ask the chef. A Rajasthani thali – prepared with more milk and fewer green vegetables than other Indian thali due to a lack of water in the surrounding desert – is one such local specialty.
Facilities
Neemrana has two swimming pools and a first class spa. It’s also the home of India’s first zip line, constructed on the slopes above the fort, which offers the chance to sample a panoramic view of the desert plain in exhilarating style. Another notable feature within the fortress walls is an amphitheatre, where guests can watch cultural performances by visiting actors, dancers and musicians.
