Location
A national park situated in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef, Orpheus stretches across 11km of turquoise coastline. Enjoy the white sands of the resort’s private beach or head away from the water to explore the verdant centre of the island. Head into the ocean where the island’s principle dive sites boast over a thousand species of fish. Guests can also take the helm of a motorised dinghy to explore the many rocky coves that pepper the island’s coastline.
Accommodation
Rooms are a stone’s throw from the water and complement their surrounds with natural colour schemes, crisp white linen, blonde timbers and oodles of beachcomber chic. Accommodation is split between north and south facing lodging – opt for the former for beachfront views or, for a secluded tropical garden setting, choose the latter. For extra comfort, upgrade to the spacious suites or extravagant villas.
Dining
Gourmet meals, included in the nightly tariff, benefit from the sustainable vegetable patch run by the resort’s expert kitchen staff. As such, Orpheus offers a light, contemporary menu that changes with the seasons. Expect freshly caught seafood and degustation menus that showcase the best that the restaurant’s kitchen has to offer. Matched vintage wines, beers and soft drinks are all included in the price.
In the day, enjoy continental and à la carte breakfasts and tapas style lunches. For a special occasion, book the Dining with the Tides experience where guests will meet with the culinary team to tailor a six-course meal served under a starlit canopy on the resort’s backlit pier.
Facilities
Stays at the resort come with complimentary access to a selection of high-octane water sports including the unlimited use of motorised dinghies, sea kayaks, snorkelling and fishing equipment and paddleboards. Of course, given its proximity to the reef, the hotel offers a range of diving and snorkelling experiences bookable in advance. Back at base, guests can relax in the generously proportioned infinity pool, reading room or day spa.
