Location
Opened in 2012, this infinitely stylish offering commands panoramic Pacific views from the rising slopes of Valparaíso on Chile’s central coast. The hotel is located in a former palace – a restored national monument – and a grand old house in the city’s historic centre; many of the city’s most famous attractions, including Pasea Yugoslavo, the Fine Arts Museum and Barburizza Palace, are close by.
Accommodation
The hotel’s 23 rooms and suites, some with a balcony or terrace, are bright, airy and contemporary in design. The Deluxe Suites are well worth the extra spend with sweeping views across the harbour and bay beyond.
Dining
Restaurant Alegre is one of the best dining spots in the city, with a menu of contemporary seafood dishes – think grilled scallops with bacon foam and salmon ceviche with avocado mousse and scent of lemon. There’s also an excellent selection of wines, both Chilean and international, from the hotel’s own cellar.
Facilities
For a boutique city hotel the Palacio’s facilities are first class. After days exploring Valparaíso’s sights, retreat to the luxury spa, which features a heated indoor swimming pool, a Turkish hammam, massage salons and a hot tub.
