Location
Just an hour’s drive up the picturesque coast from Cairns, Port Douglas has done well to preserve the relaxed atmosphere of its sleepy fishing village origins. The Daintree Rainforest provides a rich backdrop to excellent beaches that look out to the waters that are home to one of the world’s most famous natural wonders – the Great Barrier Reef. The hotel itself enjoys an unrivalled location just 40m from the beach and a two minute stroll into the heart of Port Douglas where you’ll find excellent restaurants, bars and boutiques.
Accommodation
Peninsula Boutique Hotel proudly boasts that it’s the only hotel in Port Douglas with beach and ocean views. And so it should, as the white sands and azure waters make for captivating viewing. Suites are large and airy, with kitchenettes and sliding doors made of native timber, which open onto private balconies. Choose between pool or ocean views or the Coral Spa Suites that feature twin spa baths.
Dining
Peninsula’s restaurant – Hi Tide – is located on the esplanade and, like the hotel, is the only licensed restaurant in town to overlook Four Mile Beach. Let the gentle ocean breeze wash over as you indulge in seasonal menus, designed with local North Queensland produce in mind. In the morning, enjoy healthy snacks or the signature “big breakfast” while the lunch menu features a variety of light bites. For dinner, specialities include seafood chowder and spicy chorizo and olive penne. There’s also concept dining with Stonegrill, where you choose and cook your own cuts on a 400-degree hot volcanic stone. For breakfast, there’s also a complimentary full buffet breakfast served poolside.
Facilities
If you can tear yourself away from the beach, there’s plenty to do at the hotel itself. Tiered heated pools and a Jacuzzi spa set a tranquil scene and, what’s more, the hotel’s adult policy ensures your stay is as relaxed as possible. Stay connected with complimentary WiFi available throughout the hotel. The hotel also puts on a range of activities included guided tours of the Great Barrier Reef, local rainforest and Aboriginal culture.
