Location
The focus of the hotel is its atrium lobby, a glass-topped spot of whitewashed walls and black stone floor with six storeys of wrought-iron balustrades stacked around it. At the centre is a low-hanging chandelier of teardrop crystals, while opposite the reception desk are two glass-sided lifts. It's a contemporary classic design that's simple and airy.
Accommodation
The 85 rooms are suitably graceful, decorated in cream and gold colours with wood-laminate flooring, and furniture that was apparently purpose-made. Special care has been given to the lighting, and despite most rooms facing inward to the atrium courtyard, they are bright rather than dingy. There are some nice little in-room touches too – as well as the usual safe and minibar, all rooms (not just suites) have complimentary chocolates, slippers and bathrobes.
Dining
Dining is provided through a joint venture with Costes, which was Hungary's first Michelin-starred restaurant, who have established Costes Downtown. A fine-dining restaurant that comes with a healthy reputation, and it quickly won its own Michelin star. However, it is deliberately more relaxed and informal in tone, with unfussy décor and an open kitchen.
The same staff are also responsible for breakfast, which is a top-quality spread, and includes custom-made options in addition to the buffet choices
Service & Facilities
The hotel has a small fitness room plus whirlpool and sauna on the first floor, while just off the lobby is an elegant salon with wood floors and a mock fireplace that makes a relaxing spot to read the newspaper. The management have put a particular onus on the quality of the service.
