This member of the Leading Hotels of the World is beautifully secluded on its own private island, just outside Venice. It’s a world of tennis courts, luxury rooms and fine dining. However, that’s not to say that you’ll be cut off. A delightfully scenic (and welcomingly complimentary) canal transfer will see you to the famous Piazza San Marco in minutes.
Rooms at the San Clemente Palace are, well, palatial. Think high ceilings, marble bathrooms and decorative gold stucco. And, while views of the hotel’s gardens and historic park are delightful, those of the Venetian lagoon are truly special, backdropped by the city’s famous spires. The suite upgrades are also well worth it, mixing in private piers, terrazzo aesthetics and glass chandeliers from next-door Murano Island.
But, it’s not just the accommodation that’s treated to seriously gorgeous views. Drink it all in with a cocktail by the pool, make use of the complimentary boat transfer to explore Venice, or pair the panoramas with the fine dining on offer. Breakfasts are a delight of locally sourced ingredients, while Al Bacaro serves up wood-fired pizzas and just-caught delicacies. However, it’s the Acquerello restaurant that steals the show. Here, multi-course tasting menus showcase the best in seasonal produce. It’s all wine paired, of course.
You might want to burn off all this indulgence with the variety of active options available. Alongside the jogging track, fully equipped gym and yoga classes, there’s even a tennis court and a pitch-and-putt golf course. Otherwise, unwind with a pool-side cocktail from one of the opulent bars, or treat yourself to a trip to the luxurious spa. The only problem? Choosing between the fantastic selection of treatments on offer.
