Location

Positioned on high in the saddle of a tree-clad ridge, this luxury safari lodge showcases sweeping views across the Serengeti. And, centrally located in the park, you’ll be perfectly poised to take in the lion-and-leopard headlines of the Big Five before tracking the ‘Great Migration’ of over one million wildebeest, predators listening out for their thundering hoofsteps.

Accommodation

Often found topping both travel and architectural award lists, Serena’s Serengeti offering blends seamlessly into its environment. Indeed, its traditional thatched-dome rooms are hidden among stream-fed groves of acacia trees, their private balconies peaking above the canopy to take in those Serengeti views. And, back inside, the lodge takes inspiration from its neighbouring archaeological wonder with traditional artwork, natural stone bathrooms and lavish Makonde carvings. The Serengeti Suite is a special highlight, complete with marble en suite and truly panoramic views.

Dining

From dark-wood furnishings to papyrus-topped pillars, the beautifully domed dining area is packed full of evocative charm. It’s all arranged around a central barbecue area, with shaded walkways bringing you to your own intimate nook. The result? Fine dining around the campfire, with buffet breakfasts and lunches followed by table d’hôte dinners that span multiple courses. Throughout, you can expect a spread of regional delicacies and international dining informed by seasonal local produce and washed down with fine wines and Tanzanian coffees alike.

Facilities

It’s not just the rooms that make the most of the views, with the lodge’s safari bar and horizon pool also looking out over those seemingly endless plains. To get closer, consider booking onto one of the lodge’s range of dining experiences, hosted in its wild surrounds. Bush kitchens and bars are set up for lamp-lit dinners and campfire cocktails – an ideally relaxing end to days spent on safari. You’ll also be treated to a range of cultural experiences, with traditional music and dances put on regularly.
